Genuine Entertainment is partnering with CMON on DUNE: WAR FOR ARRAKIS, the new strategy board game from Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi, the renowned game designers of the best-selling WAR OF THE RING strategy board game. The new miniatures game will span the full scope of the Gale Force Nine master license including the films and TV series from Legendary as well as the classic literary series from Frank Herbert, Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson. The partnership was brokered by Joe LeFavi of Genuine Entertainment, who is serving as a producer on the board game and managing the master tabletop gaming license for Dune. In this asymmetrical strategy game, players can retell the Dune saga differently with each playthrough. Players fight for the control of the planet, maneuvering troops like the Fremen, the Fedaykin and the fearsome Sardaukar, while sending Spice Harvesters into the deep desert, daring to challenge the great Sandworms. Powered by a brand-new action dice system and numerous event cards, DUNE: WAR FOR ARRAKIS will be a new, grandiose entry point for gamers into the vast Dune universe, featuring scores of new art and sculptures based directly on the book’s text that bring many of Dune’s characters to the tabletop for the first time.

Nepitello, who also serves as CMON’s Head of IP and RPG, said, “Dune: War for Arrakis has allowed Marco and me to once again do what we love the most: look at a story in-depth to find the best way to capture its spirit and put it into a game. Launching in September 2022, CMON’s Kickstarter campaign raised $1.4M from over 11k backers worldwide. The game debuted in 2023 to rave reviews, receiving numerous top awards and nominations including Game of the Year, Best Two-Player Game, Best Thematic Game, Best Wargame, and Best Heavy Strategy across the Origins Awards, Golden Geek Awards, Goblin Magnifico Awards, and more.

The first expansion for the core game, Desert War, debuted on Gamefound in late 2024, raising another seven figures in pre-orders before hitting retail in 2026.
