Genuine Entertainment has brokered a long-term partnership with Skydance Media and tabletop game publishers Hunters Entertainment and Renegade Game Studios to produce an official line of tabletop role-playing games within the stunning sci-fi universe of Altered Carbon. Genuine CEO Joe LeFavi manages the licensing program on behalf of Hunters and serves as an editor and managing producer on the game series.

Debuting in Spring 2021, the critically acclaimed Altered Carbon RPG won the 2021 ENNIE Judges’ Spotlight Award and was dubbed one of the biggest RPG releases of the year by Polygon.

The RPG hit the market a year prior with a massive splash on Kickstarter, launching a successful campaign in Spring 2020. With an initial funding goal of $20,000, the game earned $100K from over 1,000 backers within the first 24 hours, ultimately breaking into the Top 20 most-funded RPG campaigns in Kickstarter history with $372K from 3,940 backers worldwide.

The generous support of our Kickstarter backers helped to make many exciting, exclusive products a reality, including a standard and collector’s edition of the RPG Core Rulebook, multiple new supplements and adventures, and numerous premium game miniatures and accessories.

Inspired by the best-selling novels and popular Netflix Original Series from executive producers Alison Schapker (Fringe) and Laeta Kalogridis (Alita: Battle Angel), Altered Carbon is set centuries into the future when the human mind has been digitized and the soul itself is transferable from one body to the next. Takeshi Kovacs, a former elite interstellar warrior known as an Envoy who has been imprisoned for 500 years, is downloaded into a future he’d tried to stop. Netflix’s first season starred Joel Kinnaman (Suicide Squad) in the title role as Takeshi Kovacs, with the second season introducing Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as the new Takeshi Kovacs, with the series exploring his journey on his search for love and purpose in the universe.
