I am beside myself as I share that we’ve combined forces with Blizzard Entertainment and Glass Cannon Unplugged on the long-term tabletop gaming program for DIABLO.
Diablo was one of my first true loves as a gamer. I’ve been playing Diablo since day one, and they were transformative experiences for me and my all-consuming obsession for gaming as a medium for storytelling and world-building. The sheer fact that the hero of Diablo 1 (no spoilers) endures such a dramatic and unforgettable arc by the end of Diablo 2… it just absolutely blew my young gamer’s mind, and it redefined what a video game series could aspire to do and achieve over time.
Over the next few years, GCU and I will plunge Diablo‘s soulstone into our own hearts and minds, working tirelessly to do this beloved franchise and fictional universe justice at game night. First with a tabletop roleplaying game debuting at BlizzCon 2024, then with a co-op adventure board game debuting the year after.
My life continues to compile one surreal, humbling honor after the next, and the opportunity to work alongside my friends at Blizzard and GCU and contribute to one of my favorite game series and fictional universes ever… I have few words to share aside from joy and gratitude.
If anybody adores Diablo as much as I do, please visit the official website and sign up for our newsletter, as subscribers will receive the opportunity to participate in closed beta tests and provide the meaningful feedback and inspiration we need to make the very best version of these games together.
Looking forward to working and playing in Sanctuary with you all for years to come!
Our Blade Runner RPG with Free League won two ENNIE Gold Awards (Best Layout & Design and Best Cartography), with Free League taking home the Fan Award for Best Publisher to boot.
Everybody knows that this game is near and dear to me, so I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to carve out a niche for our RPG and continue to grow the series over time. Numerous foreign-language localizations for the Core Rulebook and Starter Set are underway, and we recently announced our next two contributions to the RPG series hitting retail in the near future:
First up in Q4 2023 is CASE FILE #02: FIERY ANGELS, a new scenario book that delivers the same fully-immersive experience as CASE FILE #01 in our Starter Set. It was obnoxiously fun to bring LA 2037 to life at the game table with all those Esper photos, newspapers, brochures, and other in-world artifacts, so we’re delivering the same and then some for this new stand-alone Case File, which includes a fresh collection of premium handouts for your investigation as you delve deeper into the Wallace Corporation and the blurred boundaries of Replicant technology.
Then in 2024 is REPLICANT REBELLION, a new sourcebook that welcomes players to join the ranks of the Replicant Underground in Los Angeles 2037. Expanding the RPG beyond the scope of the Rep-Detect Unit was the #1 request, so we listened and flipped the script to deliver an intense experience where players run their own independent cell of the rebellion, eluding Blade Runners as they undertake a variety of operations for the cause.
Whether you want to continue taming the mean streets as Blade Runners with Fiery Angels or rebel against the system with Replicant Rebellion, the Blade Runner RPG series will offer new and exciting choices for all gamers to enjoy. And yes, I’ll be contributing to the core sourcebook as the lead setting writer again, so my apologies in advance.
Dire Wolf and Dune: Imperium had quite a Gen Con last weekend, winning the Dice Tower Award for Best Expansion and dropping two huge updates: UPRISING, a new release in the Dune: Imperium game series, and Dune: Imperium Digital hitting Steam… both coming in 2023!
From the new awards and releases, to the North American Championships, to the sold-out inventory, to finally playing Dune: Imperium on my PC with friends around the world… it’s just astounding to see just how far Dune: Imperium has come. Simply being able to share in the genuine joy that this game has brought into people’s lives and love for Dune…. I can’t help but feel grateful to be a part of something this special. To so many people, myself most certainly included.
After all, it was five years ago back when we first announced that Gale Force Nine and Genuine had acquired the master tabletop gaming rights for the Dune franchise. Five years since I walked into Dire Wolf’s booth at Gen Con 2018 and asked the CEO, “Wanna play?” Yet back then, I wasn’t aspiring toward anything like this. I just wanted to deliver upon my promises and make something worthy of DUNE — a fandom and fictional universe so big in my own life, it feels disrespectful to not write the name in all caps. DUNE. To curate an ongoing program of new and original tabletop games, with a variety of different publishers and play styles, no less… it was ambitious, to say the least.
And yet here we are. And not just with Dune: Imperium, but also our award-winning RPG with Modiphius, our numerous best-sellers and award winners with Gale Force Nine, our upcoming Dune: War for Arrakis with CMON, and so much more to come. It’s just daunting to look back and embrace that this has become such a meaningful part of my life. That I’ve spent five years working and playing in the Dune universe with so many wonderful people and partners. Five years bringing one passion project after another to players around the world. And after five years, Dune is still just getting warmed up. And so am I.
Back in 2018, I couldn’t have predicted or even believed that I’d be here today. So where will I be in five years from now? With Shai-Hulud’s good graces, I can only hope that I’ll still be there in the aisles at Gen Con. Still making new announcements, winning new awards, and sharing new experiences and memories with friends and Dune fans new and old. So forgive me if I’m a little nostalgic and schmaltzy today. These past five years have been such an honor. It’s changed me and my life for the better. And I cannot wait to see where the next five years take us.
Over 2 years in the making, Glass Cannon Unplugged, Genuine, and EA are thrilled to debut APEX LEGENDS: THE BOARD GAME on Kickstarter today!
With our amazing video trailer dropping on IGN this morning, the highly anticipated tactical team vs team miniatures board game is already nearing its $244k funding goal within its first two hours, raising $175k from 950+ backers thus far. The first reviews and previews are out, and Apex fans and tabletop gamers alike are already singing its praises.
Apex Legends: The Board Game is a competitive, tactical team vs team miniatures game in which 2-4 players, divided into two teams, face each other in a battle royale style challenge played out within a modular, fully immersive 3D tabletop environment. Bangalore, Bloodhound, Wraith, and Gibraltar drop in the core box, with separate expansions adding more Legends, more terrain, more game modes, and more support for up to 6 players and solo gameplay. Lifeline, Pathfinder, Caustic, Mirage, Octane, Revenant, Wattson, and Crypto are already available today through expansions, and Kickstarter backers will exclusively receive Loba with every core game purchase as a thank you.
This is my first collab with Glass Cannon Unplugged, and I confess, I’m proud of this team. We aspired to capture the battle royale and hero shooter gaming experience in ways nobody has tried before, and the precision and care invested into every little detail has been far beyond my expectations. The production values alone are enough to wow even the most casual fan, and it’s uncanny how authentically the game comes to life at the table.
It’s been an unforgettable experience making this game with my pals and partners at GCU, and I’m grateful to everyone involved who helped us deliver the best version of this board game. So please watch the video, visit the Kickstarter campaign (linked below), and show some support for this heartfelt tribute to one of our favorite games.
Free League Publishing, 20th Century Studios, and Genuine are raring to share our next release for the hit ALIEN RPG — BUILDING BETTER WORLDS, an open-world campaign book for pioneers & privateers on the outer rim.
All the wonder and danger of the stars is yours — if you can just wipe the grime off your face and dig the dirt out from under your fingernails first.
Airless moons circle swirling gas giants, eager to be transformed into tomorrow’s paradise. Searing solar flares boil your flesh and blacken your bones as you harness their power to light a hundred worlds. Long lost mysteries lie entombed in the frozen hearts of icy comets. Unstable tectonic plates shift to drown iridium mines in scalding lava. And out there amongst it all is something truly horrifying — something that nature never intended.
Something ALIEN.
ALIEN RPG: BUILDING BETTER WORLDS is a complete campaign module for the award-winning ALIEN roleplaying game, giving you all the tools you need to run a full open-world campaign as a pioneering explorer or colonist.
We’ve been working on this highly-anticipated sourcebook for some time now, but what can I say? Bug hunts come fast and furious. Pioneering the wild frontier takes time, precision, and care. After all, the open canvas is vast, stakes are high, and dark mysteries and destinies wait to be discovered. This new release opens up the playable universe in a way we’ve yet to achieve until now, so I’m wildly happy with what we’ve done and I’m sure that countless game nights will be glorious as a result.
Pre-orders start TODAY, so visit the Free League webstore to pre-order your sourcebook soaring strong into retail later this year!
Genuine, Arcane Wonders, and Evolution have teamed up with Activision on a long-term partnership to produce CALL OF DUTY: THE BOARD GAME, a brand new strategy game series launching on Kickstarter this Fall 2023.
Players take on the roles of elite soldiers, battling against each other in intense, fast-paced action set in the iconic maps from the Call of Duty video games. The original game will feature stunning artwork and high-quality components, including miniatures of the iconic soldiers and weapons from the Call of Duty franchise, as well as a variety of scenarios and gameplay modes that allow players to savor and share the excitement of CoD in a whole new way. The first wave of games is set in the Modern Warfare era, with two-player and four-player game matches available through the core game and various expansions. Future releases may explore other facets of the video game franchise and introduce new operators, weapons, maps, and game modes, but all expansions will use the same core game system, allowing players to plug and play all future releases with ease.
I came onto this project back in 2019 due to my friendship with Evolution, who was kind enough to whisper that Activision was keen on making a premium board game, but only if the right super fan came along. Arcane Wonders, Evolution, and I had a wonderful time playing together on our Hello Neighbor social deduction game, and I knew for a fact that everybody there has been die-hard CoD fans since day one. So we brought the band back together to build this new partnership, working tirelessly since to recreate the same strategic, intense, and immersive experience for the tabletop.
It wasn’t easy, and the challenge demanded that AW design an entirely new engine to realize the kind of game we wanted to deliver fans. Yet after years of building, breaking, and rebuilding many iterations with the CoD team’s incredible support, I’m confident that Arcane Wonders has made a highly competitive and insanely scalable game series that’ll thrive for years to come.
The Kickstarter this Fall will welcome fans to pre-order the retail editions hitting shelves in 2024, along with snagging special editions and limited-run premiums only available through the campaign. For more info and to sign up to be notified of launch, visit: https://www.callofdutyboardgame.com

Free League Publishing today revealed that the official The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game is coming to Kickstarter on March 14, 2023, offering early PDF access to the Core Rulebook long before its Fall 2023 retail release. Sign up to be notified on the Kickstarter preview page as soon as the Walking Dead Universe RPG Kickstarter campaign begins.
The Walking Dead Universe RPG is a co-production between AMC Networks and the award-winning tabletop publisher, who are working closely with key forces behind the franchise, including Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, Scott M. Gimple and Head of AMC Networks Publishing Mike Zagari. The RPG series will introduce new story elements while drawing inspiration from the current series and upcoming spin-offs.
The game is directed by Free League co-founders Tomas Härenstam (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG) and Mattias Johnsson Haake (Symbaroum), with Nils Hintze (Tales from the Loop RPG, Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying) as lead writer, Gustaf Ekelund (Twilight: 2000) and Martin Grip (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG) as lead artists, and Genuine Entertainment’s Joe LeFavi (ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG, Dune, The Dragon Prince) as producer and brand manager on the game series.
In The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game, players are challenged to enter the unforgiving, post-apocalyptic sandbox and learn how to survive and thrive in this new world order. Pushing the boundaries of the survival genre, each group can tailor their RPG experience to suit their own interests and play style. Expect the stress and stakes to be high. Boasting a new spin on Free League Publishing’s award-winning Year Zero engine, players must not only hone their physical skills, but deeply explore what makes them tick – confronting how the hardships of this world naturally impact what they’re capable of, in the best and worst of times.

Genuine is proud to share that we’ve combined forces with Glass Cannon Unplugged, Electronic Arts, and Respawn Entertainment to produce the official tabletop game series for APEX LEGENDS.
Debuting on Kickstarter on May 17th, 2023, APEX LEGENDS: THE BOARD GAME is a highly competitive, intensely tactical team vs team miniatures game for 2-4 players, with more players made possible through add-ons and expansions via Kickstarter and future retail releases. Plotting a long roadmap with a growing line of modular maps and interchangeable Legends, Apex Legends: The Board Game is sure to deliver an authentic, ever-evolving battle royale experience for years to come.
I’ve been a fascinated fan of battle royales and hero shooters for ages now, and I’ve always dreamed of finding a way to authentically recreate this experience at the game table. I adore hero shooters, but it’s not one that I can often share with my tabletoppers. After seeing the mad genius of Frostpunk: The Board Game, I became smitten with Glass Cannon Unplugged’s alchemic approach toward reverse engineering video games for the tabletop. I’m happy to say that GCU and I became fast friends, so we decided to find some video games to adapt and play together. Luckily, I have friends in EA and Respawn, and the rest is history.
We’ve been in stealth mode for over two years since, working tirelessly to bring the fast and frenetic stakes, thrills, and unforgettable kills of Apex Legends to life. Securing key positions. Taking cover in the nick of time. Grabbing precious loot seconds before it’s too late. We’ve fine-tuned this engine something fierce, and by this point, it’s amazing how quickly you forget that you’re playing a board game and just get lost in the moment and mayhem.
We’ve worked so very hard to recreate all those epic moments in the heat of battle. After all, Apex Legends boasts well over 100 million concurrent players and just hit an all-time high on Steam a few days ago with a peak of 624,473 concurrent players. Namely due to the triumph of their 16th season and a new game mode that many have craved for a while: TEAM DEATHMATCH.
Sounds like a lot of gamers who might enjoy a team vs team tactical board game to me. ;P
If we can deliver something authentic and accessible enough for Apex fans, but balanced and scalable enough to rally our core tabletop players and tournament players, the end result could be the stuff of Legends indeed.
If your interest is piqued, please visit the Kickstarter preview page to be notified when the campaign goes live this May. Then subscribe to the newsletter on the official website for more exclusive news in the months to come. This one’s gonna be fun.

As the groundbreaking TV series The Walking Dead comes to its climactic conclusion, AMC Networks has forged a long-term alliance with Free League Publishing and Genuine Entertainment to continue expanding The Walking Dead Universe with The Walking DeadUniverseRoleplaying Game, an official tabletop roleplaying game. The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game will debut on Kickstarter in Spring 2023, offering early access to the Core Rulebook, a Starter Set, and other premium accessories and limited-run exclusives long before its Fall 2023 retail release.
A co-production between AMC Networks and the award-winning tabletop publisher, which is working closely with key forces behind the franchise, including Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, Scott M. Gimple and Head of AMC Networks Publishing Mike Zagari, the RPG series will introduce new story elements while drawing inspiration from the current series and upcoming spin-offs.
“The Walking Dead has always been about characters – and audiences, by extension – facing impossible life and death choices,” says Gimple. “Now, fans can face these choices head on, putting themselves in the world of the Walking Dead – at any time in the timeline, encountering familiar faces and places and brand-new ones and, within our apocalypse, making the biggest choice: Who are you going to be? We’ve seen a lot of stories in the Walking Dead Universe, now it’s time to see yours.”
The game is directed by Free League co-founders Tomas Härenstam (Alien RPG, Blade Runner RPG) and Nils Karlén, with Nils Hintze (Tales from the Loop RPG, Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying) as lead writer, Gustaf Ekelund (Twilight: 2000 RPG) and Martin Grip (Alien RPG, Blade Runner RPG) as lead artists, and Genuine Entertainment’s Joe LeFavi (Alien RPG, Blade Runner RPG, Dune, The Dragon Prince) as producer and brand manager on the game series.
To immerse fans in this new extension of The Walking Dead Universe, AMC Networks, Free League, and Genuine Entertainment will also produce a limited Liveplay series, where real players will roll the dice at the game table and play an actual The Walking Dead Universe RPG campaign filmed in real-time. Featuring original events pulled from the series’ writers’ room, the Liveplay series will follow new characters who intersect with core story elements and cross paths with a familiar face or two. Kevin Dreyfuss, SVP of AMC Networks’ Digital Content & Gaming Studio, and Genuine Entertainment’s Joe LeFavi will serve as executive producers on the limited Liveplay series.
In The Walking Dead Universe Roleplaying Game, players are challenged to enter the unforgiving, post-apocalyptic sandbox and learn how to survive and thrive in this new world order.
“You can spend days just scavenging ruins and testing survival skills. Or blur it all into the background to focus upon the compelling human drama,” says Härenstam. Fans of survival games may indeed lose themselves in fortifying strongholds alone. “The place you call home should become a rich, three-dimensional character with its own origins, attributes, and memories,” says Hintze. Pushing the boundaries of the survival genre, each group can tailor their RPG experience to suit their own interests and play style. “Each session should feel like you’re writing, directing, and starring in your own TWD episode,” says AMC’s Zagari. “Where it goes is up to you.”
No matter what, expect the stress and stakes to be high. Boasting a new spin on Free League Publishing’s award-winning Year Zero engine, players must not only hone their physical skills, but deeply explore what makes them tick – confronting how the hardships of this world naturally impact what they’re capable of, in the best and worst of times.
“Just like the show, this game is not about killing walkers,” asserts LeFavi. “It’s not about losing health points and fighting to stay alive. It’s about losing your humanity and fighting to find and protect what’s worth living, killing, and dying for.”
For news and previews, visit thewalkingdead-rpg.com. Then follow Free League Publishing on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, where fans can discover art and gameplay development ahead of the game’s release.
DUNE: IMPERIUM has been nominated for the 2022 Kennerspiel des Jahres Award, becoming the first licensed tabletop game ever to be nominated for the prestigious Game of the Year award.
Truth be told, being nominated for this award has been my north star from the very beginning. Producing the first original Dune game in over 30 years, all in the shadow of the genre-defining classic that we republished just one year prior… well, speaking only for myself here, but it was hard not to feel the pressure. So doing our best work on this game became a rallying cry for every single person involved — from our inspired designers at Dire Wolf to the filmmakers and our wildly supportive team at Legendary and the Herbert Properties — as we all combined forces and committed to make this game the very best version of itself, if only to pay tribute to one of our most cherished fandoms and make our first contribution to this esteemed legacy truly matter.
I am so utterly honored to share this nomination with the entire team. Yet regardless if we take home the award or not, I will already take away the professional and personal completion and closure that I actually did deliver upon my promises, both to myself and to the Dune franchise and fans. After nearly four years, I can finally sigh and say, “I made the game I set out to make.”
And that, trophy or not, is absolutely priceless.
Thank you so much for all the support and goodwill. It’s been a spice dream to remember.
And another dream becomes a reality as our first collaboration with DC and our first contribution to the Batman universe debuts today with BATMAN: EVERYBODY LIES from Portal Games!
This is the first in an ongoing series of cooperative crime-solving deduction board games set in the Batman universe. Featuring a new thematic interpretation of the Detective Investigation System, our game challenges 2-4 players to crack four criminal cases that combine into one super villain plot to thwart alongside Gotham’s greatest detective. Yet while our players must work together, each comes to the game table with their own hidden agenda that they try to achieve before the end. After all, everybody lies.
Walking the mean streets of Gotham City alongside Portal, DC, and WBCP has been an obnoxious amount of fun, but don’t take my word for it. Please check out the game for yourselves and host your next game night in Gotham City!
Genuine is now collaborating with one of my favorite story platforms ever: WEBTOON. Alongside Surge Licensing, we’re now helping to build the overall licensing & merchandising strategy for the platform and its inspired IP.
Webtoon has been my daily destination for ages now, and I’ve been fortunate enough to make friends with Eugene Kim and Sandy Resnick at Webtoon, helping them to explore the licensing & merch possibilities for their platform, IP, and creator community. Ultimately bringing Elan Freedman to the round table, I’m thrilled that Surge Licensing and Webtoon have officially combined forces — announcing today that Surge is their exclusive licensing agent in North America. With Genuine proudly serving as a strategic advisor going forward to help develop the overall licensing & merchandising strategy for WEBTOON and build new L&M programs for the platform and their family of IP.
Being entrusted to work and play across all consumer products alongside some of my favorite comics and one of the best fandoms and creator communities out there… it’s a treasure trove of IP and exciting possibilities. And considering that WEBTOON boasts 10.5 BILLION global monthly page views, 82 MILLION monthly active users, and a constant stream of chart-topping live-action and anime adaptations across every genre from All of Us are Dead to Tower of God to True Beauty… suffice it to say, there will be miles to go before I sleep on this one.
So if anybody is a Webtoon fanatic like me, or you’d simply like to learn more about this groundbreaking platform that’s redefining comics and fueling pop culture across shelves and screens big and small… ping Surge and I and let’s play.
It’s official! BLADE RUNNER: THE ROLEPLAYING GAME has taken flight on Kickstarter, reaching its funding goal in 3 minutes and earning $1M+ from 9k+ backers in its first 24 hours!
Voted the #1 Most Anticipated RPG of 2022, the BLADE RUNNER RPG campaign is now live on Kickstarter and already unlocking a long list of stretch goals, including additional content to the Core Rulebook and gaming accessories such as custom dice, cards, and handouts to the Starter Set, with much more on the way.
The Kickstarter campaign will wrap up on May 26th. Shortly after the Kickstarter ends, all backers will get early access to PDF versions of the complete Core Rulebook and Case File 01 – months ahead of the official retail release in Q4 2022.
Tomas Härenstam, Free League co-founder and lead game designer of the ALIEN RPG, fills the same role for the BLADE RUNNER RPG. Original artwork comes from lead ALIEN RPG artist Martin Grip, with yours truly serving as the lead setting writer, brand manager, and producer on the game series.
Today is a surreal day. This is the project that brought Tomas and I together all those years ago. This is the labor of love that we’ve invested years into handcrafting every little detail. This is the very personal tribute that we’ve both made to one of our favorite, most influential franchises and fandoms ever. Over 100,000 words in that Core Rulebook were typed on the same keyboard I’m using to type this post. And now over 5,000 people are already guaranteed to read them, and it’s only four hours into a 23 day campaign.
If you add my work on the Blade Runner 2049 art book, I’ve spent nearly six consecutive years fully immersed in the Blade Runner universe. And speaking from experience, I can’t wait for fans like me to do the same and then some.
I’m honored that Alcon trusted us to make this game a reality. And I couldn’t have asked for a better RDU partner in Tomas and all the team at Free League. After such a long and magical journey, it’s just so hard to believe that this game is finally here. That we can finally share it with people. And I can only hope you all enjoy getting lost in this neon noir wonderland as much as I did. I for one will never be the same.
After two years in the making, I am so happy to share that our Core Rulebook for the award-winning TALES OF XADIA: THE DRAGON PRINCE ROLEPLAYING GAME is available TODAY!
Not only that, the inspired engineers at Fandom (responsible for the groundbreaking D&D Beyond platform) have simultaneously launched our FREE DIGITAL TOOLS on the game’s dedicated website, providing character creation tools, digital dice rollers, and a growing suite of digital aids that’ll make playing Tales of Xadia more fun and accessible for players of all skill levels.
We first debuted our Tales of Xadia Rules Primer back in Spring 2021, and we were honored last Summer when the Primer won the 2021 ENNIE Award (Silver) for Best Family Game. It’s rare for a Primer to be nominated for an award, let alone take away a trophy… and yet it only demonstrates the quality and passion that everyone at Fandom and Wonderstorm have poured into this game. Into over 300 PAGES of world-building, jam-packed with original artwork and original lore not found anywhere else.
The end result is everything I wanted it to be — a truly authentic, meaningful, must-have tome of treasures for any fan of The Dragon Prince. It’s a stunning book, and I’m humbled to say that it’s one of my favorite RPG sandboxes on my shelves today.
My sincere congrats & gratitude to everyone at Fandom, the wildly supportive and inspired team at Wonderstorm, and all our passionate fans who have been play-testing, sharing, and making this game even better since the Beta began. We couldn’t have achieved this without you!
Look at that beauty! So excited that people can finally pre-order our first Batman tabletop game — BATMAN: EVERYBODY LIES — which opened pre-orders today!
Produced and published alongside our pals at Portal Games, Batman: Everybody Lies is the first release in an ongoing series of cooperative crime-solving deduction games set within the Batman universe. Featuring a new and inspired iteration of the celebrated Detective Investigation System, our game challenges 2-4 players to combine forces and crack four criminal cases that all combine into one master plot with an epic conclusion. Yet while our players must work together, each comes to the game table with their own hidden agenda that they must complete before the end of each case. After all, everybody lies.
Most know that I adore Detective, and Portal and I have already combined forces on Dune: House Secrets, so it’s been a pleasure to continue my Portal partnership and delve into DC with our friends at WBCP in a way my younger self could’ve never dreamed.
So please check out the website and enjoy exclusive bonuses if you pick up a copy today. Then keep a look out as the game hits stores worldwide in multiple languages in the months to come!

DC AND WARNER BROS. CONSUMER PRODUCTS TEAM UP WITH PORTAL GAMES FOR AN OFFICIAL LINE OF DETECTIVE BOARD GAMES FEATURING BATMAN
Cooperative deduction games using Portal Games’ award-winning Detective series will begin rolling out this year
KNURÓW, POLAND (January 22, 2022) – Portal Games, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), DC, and Genuine Entertainment, announced today that they have secured an agreement to produce officially licensed tabletop games set within the DC Universe featuring Batman characters.
All Batman games will feature new and inspired iterations of the story-driven, cooperative deduction game system from Portal Games’ award-winning Detective game series, delivering deeply thematic games that challenge 2-4 players to team up with the Caped Crusader and bring the theatrics and themes of Batman to life in a fully immersive tabletop experience. “While many games fight like Batman, our games will challenge you to think like Batman,” says Ignacy Trzewiczek, CEO and lead writer/designer of the game series. “Every fan has dreamed of what it’d be like to stalk the Gotham City streets and solve crimes alongside the world’s greatest detective, so working with WBCP and DC on our own line of Detective cases in this iconic universe has been a dream come true for everyone involved.”
The first game, Batman: Everybody Lies, will feature an original narrative in a crime-solving deduction game where players need to gather evidence and connect the facts to unravel the mystery. Fully anchored in rich comics lore, Batman: Everybody Lies challenges players to take on the roles of four key investigators – instinctive journalist Warren Spacey, tenacious reporter Vicki Vale, brutish detective Harvey Bullock, or the cunning Catwoman – who are drawn into a series of mysterious events unfolding in Gotham City for their own respective agendas, ultimately becoming unlikely allies entrusted to help thwart villains new and old as only the World’s Greatest Detective can!
Throughout the game, players must solve a series of challenging cases with a finite amount of time and resources. Players cooperatively make decisions on how to forward the investigation, as they decide to visit famous locations in Gotham City (like the Batcave, Arkham Asylum, Blackgate Penitentiary, and the Gotham City Gazette) and cross paths with well-known Batman characters (like Batman, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow, and more) as they chase leads, identify suspects, and gather enough information to help save Gotham City. Yet even when these unlikely allies combine forces, their goals are not always aligned. So to capture the complexity of the comics, Portal has added a new hidden agenda mechanic to the Detective system, which assigns secret goals and unique win conditions for each player based upon which DC character they portray.
During gameplay, players will utilize a variety of physical and digital game components to solve the puzzle and steer the game narrative in fun, surprising directions – a deck of cards with essential clues and plot twists, various physical handouts, and a dedicated website with access to in-world resources from the Gotham City Gazette archives – for a truly immersive experience. The game also features another new thematic treat – Scenes – that bring memorable gameplay moments to life via original comic book illustrations that feel torn straight from the pages and panels of the beloved comics.
Beginning with an introductory Prologue designed to get players acquainted with the game rules, Batman: Everybody Lies then continues with three big cases to solve, each taking roughly 2-3 hours to play. Each case can be played separately as stand-alone episodes, yet should players crack all four cases, they will unravel a master narrative with an epic climax. Every scenario ends with a final report with questions verifying how well the team has investigated the case. This game format proved a commercial and critical success for Portal Games’ award-winning Detective game series, spawning a growing library of original and licensed titles selling hundreds of thousands of units worldwide in over a dozen languages since 2018.
Future games may explore other corners of the DC Universe as well as pluck inspiration from DC film and TV content. “Batman is easily one of the greatest crime-solving sandboxes ever created,” says Genuine Entertainment CEO Joe LeFavi, who brokered the Portal/DC deal and serves as a producer and brand manager on Portal’s tabletop game series. “So as long as there is a need for the Dark Knight in Gotham City, we can only hope to give him and our players more cases to crack in the years to come.”
Batman: Everybody Lies will debut this Spring 2022 via an epic pre-order campaign launching on March 4, with the $50 game rolling out into retail this Summer.

WORM SIGN OCTOBER 2023! I can barely articulate just how obnoxiously happy I am for all our filmmakers and friends at Legendary and Herbert Properties who are finally enjoying the success they all so rightfully deserve.
As many of you now know, Denis Villeneuve’s film is a love letter to not only the book, but to cinema as a whole. And now we can confidently say that this extraordinary cinematic achievement is JUST THE BEGINNING of what will soon become one of the biggest, most beloved sci-fi franchises of our generation.
It’s impossible to believe that I’m actually witnessing the Dune I dreamed about as a kid. And beyond that, that I’ve somehow been granted the honor and privilege of making even the smallest contribution to its legacy. Being entrusted to make a growing library of tabletop games that celebrate what I love most about Dune and help to bring more fans new and old into this inspired franchise and fandom.
This kind of work brings me more purpose and passion than I ever dreamed possible as a small-town Michigan kid with no money, no connections, no hope of making a profession out of my inexhaustible love for pop culture and the positive role it plays in our everyday lives. And yet here I am, and I could not be more grateful to be surrounded by so many people and projects that bring out my best and inspire me to make pop culture and these labors of love such a big and precious part of my life.
THE DRAGON PRINCE: BATTLECHARGED, our first board game based upon the hit Netflix series, finally hits retail today!
I’ve loved working on this wildly fun and imaginative game with Brotherwise Games and Wonderstorm. We fought long and hard to make a game that’ll feel rooted in the world and authentic to core TDP fans, all while being equally exciting and inclusive for new fans across core and casual gaming groups alike.
I’m happy to say that Brotherwise delivered upon that promise and then some. Anybody can pick up and play the game in minutes. You don’t need to know TDP to enjoy the game, but fans will adore the countless homages and inspirations. And the production values are just stunning. I honestly don’t know how Brotherwise pulled off that $40 price tag. So for anybody looking for a high-end miniatures game with 8 minis, 8 decks, 6 unique battle maps, and a whole bunch of heart, this labor of love is really something special and a sure-fire staple for our game nights.
I am elated to reveal that Free League Publishing, Alcon Entertainment, and I have teamed up to produce the official tabletop roleplaying game set within the iconic Blade Runner universe.
Tomas Harenstam, Free League co-founder and game director of our Alien RPG, will oversee game design, with original artwork by lead Alien RPG artist Martin Grip and none other than YOURS TRULY serving as a producer, brand manager, and lead setting writer on the game series.
The Core Rulebook will debut in 2022 in celebration of Blade Runner’s 40th anniversary, launching an ongoing RPG series that draws inspiration from the full scope of the fictional universe, spanning four decades of world-building across all forms of media including Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049.
Free League and I have shared so much joy together on the Alien RPG. So combining forces again on another of my pop cultural obsessions with Tomas, Martin, and the FLP team, let alone serve as the lead writer entrusted to explore and extend that world into a RPG sandbox all our own… it’s been a dream. A bucket list experience that my not-so-inner child can’t believe is real.
Mind you, making the art book for Blade Runner 2049 was our first big license at Genuine. I had to exclusively commit to that one project for eight months, but when somebody asks you to embed into the post-production crew for Denis Villeneuve’s sequel to Blade Runner, you say YES. Crammed into a tiny office on the Sony lot, I worked alongside that film crew and interacted with the producers, the film editor, the VFX houses, even Denis on a daily basis. Personally curating over 70,000 assets. Memorizing every shot, every line of dialogue, every little corner of that universe. I had never been so utterly immersed in one project, one story world, in my entire career. And suffice it to say, it was a life-changing experience for me. An unforgettable collaboration that inspired not only one beautiful book, but also a pivotal turning point in my life. Dedicating my new company and this next chapter of my career to only passion projects — working with people I admire and making positive, measurable, and meaningful contributions to the companies and IP I love and respect the most.
Between the art book, the upcoming video game with Nightdive Studios, and now this RPG with Free League, it’s impossible that BLADE RUNNER, one of my most cherished fandoms ever since I first fell in love with cinema and sci-fi as a whole… that it’s become such a special part of my life. It’s an honor and humbling responsibility that I would’ve never dreamed for myself. And yet here we are. And here we go!
So please check out the press release and website linked below to learn more about the RPG, then sign up for the newsletter for the latest & greatest as the game develops.

Gale Force Nine and Genuine Entertainment are proud to produce Dune: Betrayal, the next installment of our award-winning, best-selling tabletop gaming program for the Dune franchise alongside Legendary Pictures and Herbert Properties.
Dune: Betrayal is a new social deduction game designed by Don Eskridge (The Resistance), featuring stunning visuals from the 2021 movie. During this fast-paced experience of tactics and deception, 4-8 players must portray secret agents engaged in a bitter feud between the Great Houses vying for control of Dune. The goal is to learn the identities of your foes while protecting your nobles, forming alliances, and utilizing tools to gain knowledge and power. Hide your true nature while paying close attention to other players, as you must ultimately trust your gut and decide who among your ranks are traitors waiting to betray you.

Produced by our friends at Watch It Played and sponsored by Brotherwise Games, we are so thrilled to share a full playthrough of our tabletop game The Dragon Prince: Battlecharged featuring none other than the Brat Pack themselves — voice actors Jack De Sena, Racquel Belmonte, and Jesse Inocalla who portray Callum, Claudia, and Soren respectively in the Emmy Award winning Netflix animated series.
Watching these wildly charming actors actually portray and play their characters in the show… fighting, bantering, and laughing just how their characters who act and react, it was just so amazing to watch our game quite literally bring The Dragon Prince to life at the game table. Seeing just how authentically our game captures the essence of this show and delivers unique ways to play each character, all with easy-to-learn rules and stunning production values gamers and TDP fans alike will enjoy. Particularly for $40.
I shamelessly adore this game, and it’s been a dream to see the actual cast from the show genuinely enjoy playing our game just as we enjoyed making it. As part of the Dice Tower Summer Spectacular, Dire Wolf Digital announced Rise of Ix, the first expansion to the hit board game Dune: Imperium.
The Rise of Ix expansion focuses on technocratic society of Ix, and adds three new Houses to portray and a variety of new Imperium, Intrigue, and Conflict cards that seamlessly connect to the core game. Ixian technology is renown throughout the Dune universe because they produce cutting-edge thinking machines. This expansion will add new mechanics to Dune: Imperium, such as dreadnoughts and Ixian Technology tiles. Dreadnoughts are mighty war machines that enter combat like troops, but pack even more firepower, and are indestructible! Dreadnoughts can also temporarily take control of locations on Arrakis. These powerful units will cost players Solari to construct, so decisions on how to prioritize spending are key. Ixian Technology tiles can be acquired for spice, and unlike cards, do not shuffle into players decks. The tiles are instead placed directly in front of a player, where they provide a permanent upgrade to abilities.
We’ll have more to share about Rise of Ix in the coming weeks, so visit the official website and sign up for the newsletter to get all the updates for Dune: Imperium and Rise of Ix in the days ahead!

If even one neighbor convinces the kids to let them use a key then the neighbors have won, so the kids must use all of their deduction skills to figure who they can trust!
So if you’re a Hello Neighbor fan, this is an authentic, must-buy extension of your favorite video game with all those familiar laughs, chills, and thrills. And if you like Werewolf, Mafia, The Resistance, or any social deduction party games that warm up a room (or Zoom) and get people laughing lickety split, then grab a magnet, snag a key, and play this game for years to come!

Dire Wolf Digital, Gale Force 9, and Genuine Entertainment have combined forces to produce DUNE: IMPERIUM, the first original board game set within the Dune universe in nearly 40 years.
Designed by Paul Dennen, the creator of the hit Clank! game series, Dune: Imperium is a 1-4 player game that marries two fan-favorite mechanics — deck-building and worker-placement — into a deeply thematic experience with climactic conflicts and choices that unfold across the Imperium.
The stakes were high on our first new Dune game, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve done with Scott Martins, Paul, and the rest of the amazing team at Dire Wolf Digital. It’s been a privilege working with one of my favorite game makers and true Dune fans, and Legendary has been a dream collaborator who truly empowered us to do things no Dune game has ever done before.

WORM SIGN! The first trailer for DUNE has been unleashed! It’s been my pleasure and privilege to work with Legendary Entertainment and director Denis Villeneuve as a premier brand partner on the Dune franchise. I was quite literally their first licensee, right there at the beginning as soon as I heard Denis had agreed to direct the film. As the producer and publisher of The Art and Soul of Blade Runner 2049, I had worked closely with Denis on his previous film. Embedding into his post-production crew for eight months to produce the art book, I saw first-hand how Denis approached both filmmaking and the adaptation process. How he surrounded himself with the very best and brought out the best in them every day. How respectfully and authentically he cultivated and celebrated a rich and beloved legacy. And then went further to make such a personal and meaningful contribution that captured my heart and set the silver screen on fire.
For years now, I’ve been honored to watch Dune evolve into something truly quite extraordinary. A fan’s dream adaptation come to life. I’ve been waiting with great anticipation for the rest of the world to finally see what I’ve seen and share in my unabashed passion for this upcoming masterpiece. This trailer is the first glimpse into a cinematic legend in the making. All I can say is… I cannot wait for you to see more!
After watching the trailer, please watch the fantastic Q&A with Denis and the main cast hosted by Stephen Colbert. It’s a wonderful inside look into the filmmaking process, the film, the story… and just heartwarming to feel the real chemistry and passion behind everyone involved.

Issue 1 of our new Voyage to the Stars comic book series with IDW and Madison Wells Media hit the shelves TODAY!
In the words of SyFy Wire: “This entertaining comic book adaptation is a witty, sarcastic romp around the cosmos that’s a supremely satisfying cocktail blended with barbed essences of Guardians of the Galaxy, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and Spaceballs.”
Working on this comic has been a blast. And not just because I got to work with dear friends Diana Williams, Kylie Williams, and VTTS creator Ryan Copple at MWM. Writer James Asmus is one of my favorite writers who never fails to make me laugh out loud, and he’s brought out the absurdity and hilarity of this world like none other. Artist Connie Daidone harmonized with James perfectly and SHINES in this technicolor dream quest through the stars, and Reggie Graham’s colors make it all pop and sing.
We can’t thank our IDW champions enough for helping to bring one hilarious comic to the shelves. Not to mention our cast members Colton Dunn, Felicia Day, Janet Varney, Kirsten Vangsness, and Steve Berg for their support!
So please check out the comic today and then jump into the Voyage to the Stars podcast wherever you listen to podcasts!

“Art from Pramanik that is beautifully creepy…”
“Successful in creating engaging characters that flesh over the overall mythology…”
“A great addition to both the Masquerade legacy and Vault’s library, showing that this publisher creates their licensed material with as much love as their creator-owned efforts.”

Ever since I started working with Paradox Interactive in 2017, I’ve dreamed of making comics in the World of Darkness. So I feel privileged to share the first issue of our Vampire: The Masquerade comic book series with Vault Comics on shelves and ComiXology today!
Writers Tim Seeley and Blake & Tini Howard were die-hard fans and instinctively knew how to turn a new city into a place that felt authentic and exciting to WoD fans and readers alike. Artists Devmalya Pramanik and Nathan Gooden brought their story to life with a delicate, decadent balance of heart and inhumanity pitch perfect for Vampire. And when you add covers from Aaron Campbell and David Mack… Suffice it to say, the whole experience was worth the wait.
So enjoy this labor of love of ours, then keep stalking our ongoing series. We’re doing new and amazing things in WoD and I can’t wait to share it with you. And hey, if you’re rolling dice, check out the exclusive RPG supplements in the back of each comic and incorporate our stories into your own!
Set within the iconic World of Darkness franchise, the game puts you in control of a coterie of vampires vying for control of San Francisco. Through dominating mortals, using your political influence, and clashing with rivals on the streets in the dark of night, you must rally your allies and choose your enemies wisely as you rise in power and push your agenda to the top.
Designed by ECG legend Matt Hyra and lusciously illustrated by top artists, RIVALS is one addictive and gorgeous game sure to become a staple for gamers and World of Darkness fans for years to come!
Ending on August 20, the Kickstarter will lead to a fast turnaround of the fully completed game shipping starting in December 2020!
I am honored to share that ALIEN: THE ROLEPLAYING GAME has won the 2020 Gold ENnie Award for Best Game of the Year.
My undying gratitude goes to Tomas Härenstam and our inspired and impossibly talented team at Free League Publishing for designing such an authentic and exhilarating game, our amazing writer Andrew E.C. Gaska for exploring and celebrating the Alien universe in ways we could’ve never dreamed, Martin Grip and our incredible art team for bringing that rich and terrifying world to vivid life, and our champions at Disney for allowing this intrepid crew of misfits and life-long ALIEN fans to make our dream game.
Producing this game has been a labor of love for us all, and we can only hope that we’ll be working and playing in this iconic universe for years to come.

Hollywood Reporter exclusively broke the news that Genuine Entertainment has aligned Vault Comics with Paradox Interactive to publish the official Vampire: The Masquerade comic book series, based upon the internationally bestselling game series and its iconic World of Darkness universe. The first comic in the series will be available for purchase from comics retailers across the US in July 2020. The comic is co-written by Tim Seeley, Tini Howard, and Blake Howard, drawn by Devmalya Pramanik, and colored by Addison Duke, with covers by Aaron Campbell. Genuine CEO Joe LeFavi will serve as a managing editor on the comic series.
Sink your teeth into the hidden world of vampires, ghouls, and hunters who live in the shadows and scheme among us. In the comic series, Cecily Baine, an enforcer for the Twin Cities’ elite cabal of Kindred, takes a mysterious young vampire under her wing and is swept up in a conspiracy that can shake the foundations of vampire society.
Each issue will include exclusive material for Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition of the tabletop RPG from Modiphius. These materials enable readers to play alongside the unfolding comic events in their own chronicles.
“When Vampire: The Masquerade launched in 1991, it felt like the first RPG to embrace dark and mature themes largely ignored by previous games,” said Vault Editor-in-Chief, Adrian Wassel. “Close to 30 years later, following the successful launch of the 5th edition, Vampire: The Masquerade is exploring new avenues of storytelling with our comic series. I can’t imagine a better team than the one we’ve assembled. Tim Seeley, Tini Howard, Blake Howard, Devmalya Pramanik, Addison Duke, and Aaron Campbell tell a story from two points-of-view, a fearsome Camarilla courier in Minneapolis and an Anarch coterie from outside the city tasked with investigating a murder. As you get deeper into the series, you’ll discover how the two stories connect, unearthing a city-shaking conspiracy. This is Vault’s first comic outside the world of creator-owned and we’re thrilled to be partnered with a brand that shares our commitment to the very best genre storytelling.”
Hollywood Reporter broke the exclusive on Genuine’s first foray as a game producer, proudly teaming up with Nightdive Studio and Alcon Entertainment to produce Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, a modern restoration of the classic 1997 video game Blade Runner for Steam and the PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox consoles.
Originally released in 1997 by Westwood Studios, Blade Runner was one of the most innovative adventure games of its era. Long praised as a master-class in game design for its painstaking recreation of the sci-fi cinematic masterpiece, the game delivered an unforgettable gaming experience with groundbreaking graphics, an original musical score, and a canonical branching narrative seamlessly interwoven with the events of Ridley Scott’s 1982 feature film.
Once lost for years and only recently coming out of retirement, this seminal game will soon become widely available to a whole new generation of gamers around the world. Fans of the cult classic can expect a polished and premium restoration from Nightdive using their proprietary KEX game engine, which has been used to restore classic video games across all digital platforms including System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Blood, and Forsaken Remastered. Nightdive has also sourced the original foreign-language translations, so fans can enjoy the game in German, French, Italian, and Chinese just as Westwood intended.
Releases across Steam, console, and other platforms are expected in 2020. Stay tuned for more details on the highly-anticipated Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition as development continues. No stranger to the franchise, LeFavi previously produced The Art and Soul of Blade Runner 2049, Alcon’s top-selling art book for their Academy Award winning film sequel in 2017.

The related licensing agreement was brokered by Genuine Entertainment, which is managing the master tabletop gaming license in partnership with Legendary and Gale Force Nine CEO John-Paul Brisigotti.
Modiphius will begin rolling out the Dune RPG series this holiday season and throughout 2021. A beta test is kicking off soon, and interested players can head to the Modiphius website for more details.

Launching on February 3rd, 2020, Hunters Entertainment debuted their Kickstarter campaign to fund Altered Carbon: The Role Playing Game with an initial funding goal of $20,000. Earning $100K from over 1,000 backers within the first 24 hours, the KS campaign became an instant success and continued to soar throughout its 30-day campaign. On March 3, 2020, Hunters wrapped the wildly successful campaign, ultimately breaking into the Top 20 most-funded RPG campaigns in Kickstarter history with $372,547 USD from 3,940 backers worldwide.
The generous support of our Kickstarter backers helped to make many exciting and exclusive products a reality, including a standard and collector’s edition of the RPG Core Rulebook, multiple new supplements and adventures, numerous premium game miniatures and accessories, and a four-episode Liveplay series co-produced and distributed by Penny Arcade.
The successful conclusion of the campaign coincided with the equally successful debut of Season 2 of Altered Carbon on Netflix, which quickly became one of the Top-10 most watched series on the platform.
Everyone at Genuine, Hunters, Renegade Game Studios, and Skydance TV are thrilled, honored, and humbled by the unanimously positive response from Altered Carbon fans, Kickstarter, and the tabletop gaming community. We cannot wait to share this game with the world, and we look forward to telling more inspired and innovative tales within this sci-fi universe for years to come.

The core rulebook for the official ALIEN roleplaying game was released on December 10, 2019 and immediately sold out its first print run. Shipping new print runs to retail shelves around the world this January, Free League is now ramping up a range of new expansions and accessories for the game series slated to release later this year.
Our Kickstarter campaign for Altered Carbon: The Role Playing Game with Skydance TV, Hunters Entertainment, and Renegade Game Studios launched at 7am PST. By 9am PST, over 165 backers helped us to achieve our $20K funding goal, ensuring that our tabletop roleplaying game will hit the shelves later this year.
This news follows their WonderCon 2019 announcement that Skydance Media reached a multi-year licensing agreement with Hunters to produce tabletop role-playing games set within the stunning sci-fi universe of the hit Netflix series recently renewed for a second season with Anthony Mackie (Avengers) in the lead role.
Based upon the best-selling novels by Richard K Morgan, Altered Carbon is set centuries into the future when the human mind has been digitized and the soul itself is transferable from one body to the next. This twisted reality of transhumanity enables Altered Carbon: The Role Playing Game to create challenging stories, complex characters, and century-spanning epics, all which explore the darkest aspects of human nature that the value of life and death once held in check.
The game is set in California during the year 2384, the same year and setting as the first book and Season 1 of the Netflix series. There players explore the futuristic metropolis of Bay City, taking control of police, military, technicians, artificial intelligence, CTAC special operatives, and the influential elite of high society on endless sci-fi adventures. Hunters designed a new game system for this transhumanist future, offering players unique opportunities to augment abilities, utilize futuristic weapons and technology, even “re-sleeve” minds into new bodies, even post-death… all at a cost. Unlike most RPGs where skill trees are set and death is an ever-present threat, the character abilities and storytelling possibilities in Altered Carbon may change from one Sleeve to the next… making gameplay more versatile, while empowering the story to steer character advancement at its own pace.
The full-color core rulebook for Altered Carbon: The Role Playing Game is available now for $50 on Kickstarter, containing everything that gamemasters and players need to play: an in-depth exploration of the Altered Carbon universe, extensive game mechanics, two adventure modules, and tons of original artwork and never-before-seen concept art that immerse players in the neon-drenched cyberpunk sandbox.
The Kickstarter also features limited-edition offerings such as a Deluxe Edition of the core rulebook, a Cortical Stack challenge coin, UV-activated dice sets, and a game accessories carrying case inspired by the infamous Hello Unicorn backpack.
The Envoy Bundle is available for $250 and contains everything a gamemaster needs to host an Altered Carbon RPG session at home, including the Deluxe Edition rulebook with two adventure modules, game reference cards, a GM Screen showcasing Bay City, a limited run UV-activated dice set, a Cortical Stack challenge coin, a limited-run 8.5 x 11 print, an Ouroboros temporary tattoo, and the Hello Unicorn game accessories carrying case.
Those who want to take their Altered Carbon experience to the next level can enjoy the higher-level pledges, which include handmade gaming accessories from Dog Might Games, personalized artwork, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly to LA for a photoshoot to portray a canonical character featured in their next RPG supplement.
“We at Hunters Entertainment are extremely grateful to all of our amazing backers who have supported us in reaching our goal on Kickstarter and making Altered Carbon: The Role Playing Game a reality,” says Ivan Van Norman, CMO and Co-Founder of Hunters.
With their $20,000 funding goal reached, Hunters is now focusing on their “Neurochem” stretch goals, which unlock additional materials and gaming accessories such as a Bay City folded map, the “Osaka” sourcebook, and a one-shot liveplay series titled Bay City Confidential. A seasoned producer and gamemaster of liveplay series, Hunters has worked with market leaders like Critical Role, Geek & Sundry, Gen Con, and Hyper RPG on several liveplay series including Sagas of Sundry, We’re Alive: Frontier, and D&D’s Stream of Many Eyes. Akin to these shows, Hunters will produce an original Altered Carbon tabletop RPG campaign starring a yet to be release cast of some talented voice and TV actors, with the number of episodes determined by the number of stretch goals unlocked throughout the Kickstarter campaign.

LeFavi is no stranger to tabletop, as he is currently managing the master tabletop gaming license for Dune with Legendary and Gale Force Nine, the Alien tabletop roleplaying game with Fox and Free League Publishing, and multiple initiatives for Paradox Interactive and the World of Darkness franchise. WOW! Our most sincere thank you to Game Tyrant for the GLOWING review of our Alientabletop RPG with Free League Publishing:
“The official ALIEN tabletop roleplaying game from Free League Publishing is an exquisite body of work that combines the horror of the Alien universe with the endless possibilities of a tabletop roleplaying experience. It’s an interstellar masterpiece that honors the Alien legacy and builds on the stories that made the series great. It’s a sci-fi adventure that roleplaying fans will surely love, and it’s an accessible system for anyone interested in a good story and a rollicking good time.”
The Gamer shares their glowing review for our Alien: The Roleplaying Game alongside Free League Publishing and Fox. The first sentence of the review says it all:
“Move over, Dungeons & Dragons, Swedish publisher Free League has released Alien: The Roleplaying Game, and it is as great as it is terrifying.”
Our ALIEN RPG with Free League Publishing has been named among the Top Five tabletop RPGs of 2019 by Rob Wieland at Forbes.
“Free League publishing has come on strong in the past few years as a design house with a strong house rules set and gorgeous illustrations. They could have easily put together a quick and dirty version of ALIEN from their existing mechanics and called it a day. Instead, they built a game that nails the dark beauty, corporate intrigue, and unbeatable horror of the famous Fox franchise.”
We are thrilled to share that Game Informer has listed our DUNE board game with Gale Force 9 as one of the top 10 board games of 2019!
“Intricate and unforgiving, but thematically rich, Dune is a game of big highs and crushing lows. The game’s revival comes at a great time, in advance of the big upcoming movie being helmed by Denis Velleneuve. But even separated from that wonderful fiction in novel or film formats, the Dune board game is an experience that every board gamer should try at some point – and this new version is the perfect chance.”

A wonderful review from EN World on our Alien RPG:
“If you are looking for dangerous sci-fi with working stiffs just trying to survive or want to explore the worlds depicted in the Alien movies and extended universe then this RPG is what you are looking for. All the tools needed to play as a player or run a campaign as a GM is included from ships to aliens to worlds to adventures. All packed together with a visual style designed to immerse you in an alien setting. And once you start playing you can feel the weight of command, feel the pressure of being outmanned and outgunned, and face your own mortality in the uncaring blackness of space. Time to embrace the alien and die screaming or face your fears and be one of the few to make it back home alive. This time.”
In just 24 hours, the Alien tabletop RPG from Free League Publishing and Genuine Entertainment has skyrocketed up the sales charts and hit #1 on the best-sellers list on DrivethruRPG, the #1 digital storefront for tabletop RPGs.
“The real horror of Ridley Scott’s seminal sci-fi flick Alien has always been the creeping, slithering fear of the unknown. It’s impressive, then, that Free League has been able to craft a tabletop roleplaying game that can conjure up that same pitch-dark dread from the safety of your kitchen table.”

Good Housekeeping features our Dune board game from Gale Force 9 among their TOP-THREE recommendations in their holiday gift guide for your geeky loved ones.
“Gale Force 9’s reprint of Dune is the most significant, most important release of a board game product since Fantasy Flight Games respectfully republished that other EON/Future Pastimes title, Cosmic Encounter. To call these two watershed designs “seminal” is a massive understatement, as the concepts and mechanisms explored in them are as foundational to hobby gaming as Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and Warhammer. It is a timeless classic that remains among the best examples of interlacing gameplay with settings, characters, and themes. And as a tabletop adaptation of a complex novel it is stunningly successful in capturing Herbert’s ideas as much as the Dune world.”
It certainly is rewarding when a major news outlet not only celebrates your game, but acknowledges the true complexity and victory in working with legacy brands and rescuing these classic masterworks from legal limbo. Our thanks to Polygon for the wonderful coverage!
